ESOL Baking

Our ESOL Baking Sessions provide a fun, friendly and practical way to improve English while learning how to bake delicious cakes and treats from around the world. Designed for adults who speak English as a second or additional language, each session combines hands-on baking with everyday conversation, helping participants build confidence in speaking, listening, reading and following instructions.

Working together in a relaxed and supportive environment, participants learn new vocabulary, practise English through recipes and teamwork, and develop practical kitchen skills. Every session also offers an opportunity to make new friends, share cultures and gain confidence through meaningful conversations.

As part of the programme, participants bake a variety of international and traditional British recipes, with many of the finished cakes sold at our Bakara Café. This gives learners the chance to use their English in real-life situations while contributing to a community project.

Whether you are new to learning English or looking to improve your confidence, everyone is welcome. No previous baking experience is needed—just a willingness to learn, have fun and enjoy meeting new people.
